Carried to the Table of the King
1. Mephibosheth’s name means “shameful thing”. He had nothing to offer– 2 Sam. 9:8

- Mephibosheth was born a fugitive from David; he was from the defeated family of
King Saul that had once ruled — 2 Sam. 4:4
*We are all born enemies of God and of Christ, part of Adam’s family which once had

- Mephibosheth was crippled by a fall as a baby — 2 Sam. 4:4
*We are all lame in our “walk” due to our fallen nature from birth — Rom. 5:6-12
- David sought him; he was not seeking David — 2 Sam. 9:1-4
*We love the Lord because He first sought us — 1 John 4:10; John 6:44; Rom. 3:11
- Mephibosheth was exalted because of another’s merits — 2 Sam. 9:5,7
*We are blessed because of the merits of Christ alone — Rom. 5:8; 2 Cor. 8:9
- Mephiboseth was given a glorious inheritance — 2 Sam. 9:9-13
*We have been given a glorious inheritance in Christ — Eph.1:3,18
- During the King’s absence Mephibosheth lived in self-denial — 2 Sam. 19:24
*We are to live as good soldiers until the King’s return — 2 Tim. 2:1-4

- He was subject to slander and persecution — 2 Sam. 16:3; 19:27-28

- Mephibosheth was remembered by David because of a prior covenant —
